Hello again and welcome to the latest installment in my monthly(ish!) series. Sorry about the delay as I’ve been a bit lazy lately. I hope your fishing has been going well and you’ve managed to put a few on the bank. Our local rivers have been pretty unproductive for the past few weeks. One or two barbel have been caught here and there, but nothing to write home about, with the lower Severn in particular still being a cause for concern. |

Smith's Hardwick Stunner! |

Regular Bankside customer Colin Warner recently dropped in a picture of one of his recent catches taken on a quick overnighter at Linear Fisheries Smith's Hardwick. The heavily plated 26lb stunner is one of the fish Smith's Hardwick has become so famous for over the years, and fell to a Bankside Grubber Hookbait fished alongside a small PVA bag of mixed Grubber Pellets cast a short distance down the margins. Well done Colin! |

It's fair to say that it has been a roller coaster ride for our intrepid duo in the 2008 British Carp Angling Championships so far. After failing to get through on their first qualifier held on Broadlands, Finchy and Pooley gave it another go on the up-and-coming Silverwood Lake on the Velocity Angling Complex in Somerset. It was a tight match with several carp dropped in the weed, but three fish landed from three chances saw Ian and Jon take the win and with it a place on the second semi final at Bradleys.
Fished in some of the hottest days of the year so far the semi final was never going to be easy. In the end only six teams out of the 24 caught, with two fish first thing on the Saturday morning securing another win and a place in the final for the Bankside duo. You can read the full story of the 2008 British Carp Championships so far on the official BCAC website found here. |
