With the river season in full flow there are plenty of barbel being caught from all of the local rivers, and one angler that seems to be doing very well is Mark Surman. Mark has been heading over to the Wye this summer and armed with the Team Barbel seems just about unstoppable.

Top of the pile for mark has been a 12lb+ specimen which is a massive barbel by Wye standards, and this has been backed up by a number of other very good fish including a 10 and an 11.

Winning tactics for mark has been a Team Barbel Hookbait wrapped in Team Barbel Paste fished over a bed of mixed Grubber pellets , a method that's being successfully employed by an ever increasing number of anglers targeting the UK's barbel stocks.

On the same stretch of the Wye, James Clift has also been getting amongst the fish and using identical tactics to Mark banked another Wye specimen weighing in at 9lb 2oz. Well done lads and thanks for the pictures.
